Key points:

- The upgraded platform aims to improve transaction processing, game management and operational efficiency
International Game Technology (IGT) has signed a seven-year contract extension with the Thuringian State Lottery (Lotto Thüringen) in Germany to implement its Aurora central lottery system and upgraded software.
The new system is set to go live in March 2026 and aims to modernise the lottery’s operations and enhance efficiency.
The Aurora platform – a component of IGT’s Omnia omnichannel solution – aims to streamline transaction processing, game management and back-office functions. Designed with a range of tools and reporting capabilities, the platform hopes to enable Lotto Thüringen to meet evolving operational needs.
Commenting on the contract extension, Jochen Staschewski, CEO of Lotto Thüringen, stated: "Lotto Thüringen has relied on IGT's versatile and strong-performing central system technology throughout the course of our decades-long relationship.
"Upgrading our central retail system to IGT's advanced platform and back-end software will enable us to streamline our business processes and continue operating with the highest levels of efficiency."
Jay Gendron, IGT’s COO for Global Lottery, added: "IGT's retail central system incorporates a suite of flexible solutions designed to help manage, transform and further grow Lotto Thüringen's business.
"With this long-term contract extension, Lotto Thüringen is well-positioned to continue benefiting from IGT's secure, responsible and modernised technology and software. Leveraging these best-in-class solutions will aid in the Lottery's goals of supporting good causes throughout the state."
This agreement is part of IGT’s broader lottery modernisation efforts. Just yesterday, the company signed a decade-long deal with Luxembourg’s national lottery, Loterie Nationale, involving similar technological upgrades.
