    Key points:

    - BGC’s 2025 AGM is scheduled for 27 February with notable speakers

    - The event will focus on implementing the White Paper and enhancing industry standards

    - Gambling Insider attends every year; last year's showed true engagement both from politicians and, for the first time, the regulator

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has confirmed its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 27 February 2025, featuring a roster of keynote speakers from across the political and regulatory spectrum.

The event, themed "Making a Difference," will be held at a central London venue.

Key government figures scheduled to speak include Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow Secretary of State Stuart Andrew MP and Gambling Commission CEO Andrew Rhodes.

The AGM will focus on implementing White Paper policies, economic growth and maintaining industry standards.

Commenting on the significance of the event, BGC CEO Grainne Hurst stated: “The BGC AGM is always a major highlight for our sector, and I am absolutely delighted to confirm such an outstanding line-up of keynote speakers at this year’s AGM.

“Our theme and strapline for this year’s AGM is Making a Difference, and as we move forward into a new era, post the publication of the White Paper, it could not be more fitting.

Good to know: Recent statistics indicate that approximately 22.5 million people in Britain engage in gambling activities monthly, spanning lottery tickets, bookmakers, casinos, bingo halls and online platforms

“After a long period of instability, we are looking forward to working with the Government to deliver the outstanding policies from the White Paper so our sector can get back to what it does best, making a positive difference for their millions of customers, and the UK economy."

The BGC, representing over 90% of the UK's regulated betting and gaming sector, views the AGM as an opportunity to address industry challenges and opportunities in the post-White Paper era, with registration now open for members.

The announcement of this event comes shortly after the BGC's recent concerns about the Government's approach to gambling reforms. In late 2024, while supporting proposed mandatory levy and stake limits, the organisation cautioned against yielding to anti-gambling advocacy without balanced measures – highlighting its members' £170m contribution to addressing gambling-related harm since 2020.
