- Vogelei yields extensive expertise in the gambling industry, including 20 years of experience at the Venetian.
Mohegan Sun has announced the appointment of Doug Vogelei as its new Vice President of Gaming, as the resort expands its executive leadership team.
As per this latest announcement, Vogelei has moved on from his previous post as SVP of Casino Operations at Sycuan Casino Resort after just under five years. Within this role, he oversaw operational and financial strategy across a range of industry sectors. However, the bulk of Vogelei’s experience comes from his 20-year tenure at the Venetian Las Vegas, which saw him join as Table Games Supervisor in 1999 and leave as Executive Director of Casino Operations in 2020.
Indeed, Vogelei’s extensive expertise on the intertwining nature of hospitality, casino operations and the gaming industry will now be put to use by Mohegan Sun in his new role, which will see him work closely with the gaming leadership team on strategic oversight, vision and alignment.
Discussing Vogelei’s appointment, Jeff Hamilton, President & General Manager at Mohegan Sun, said: “Doug’s vast knowledge in gaming operations and ability to inspire large teams makes him a perfect fit for this role. We’re confident that his expertise makes him an impactful addition to our leadership team, and we look forward to seeing him continue to enhance the overall gaming experience for our guests at Mohegan Sun.”
Good to know: In April 2023, Mohegan Sun also announced the appointment of David Fausel as Director of Advertising
More recently, however, the resort announced the official launch of a new podcast in partnership with FanDuel in September 2024. This announcement came in the wake of the debut off IGT’s Whitney Housten slot at Mohegan Sun, and was trailed closely by the announcement of Light & Wonder’s Squid Game slot also debuting at the resort last month.
The Mohegan Sun resort is located in the state of Connecticut, which saw US Senator Richard Blumenthal push through a new safer gambling bill in the state last September.
