Gamstop has introduced a new 5-year auto-renewal exclusion option – a feature that was developed after an independent evaluation by Ipsos revealed that many users desired longer-term exclusion options.
Key points:
- Gamstop recorded its highest daily registration numbers since May 2023, with 415 new registrants on 1 January
- A new 5-year auto-renewal option has been introduced in response to user feedback
- Email reminders will be sent to consumers with 5-year exclusions to keep them informed about their status and renewal options
Gamstop has marked the start of the year with record-breaking registration numbers and the introduction of a new long-term exclusion option.
The organisation reported its highest daily registration figures since May 2023, with 415 people registering on 1 January, followed by 413 on 2 January and 396 on 6 January.
In response to user feedback from its registered users, Gamstop has additionally launched a new '5-year auto-renewal' exclusion option.
This enhancement allows users to have their exclusion automatically renewed for additional 5-year periods without requiring manual intervention.
The feature was developed following an independent evaluation by Ipsos, which revealed that many users desired longer-term exclusion options and expressed anxiety about their exclusion periods ending.
Under the new system, Gamstop will send email reminders every 15 months to users with 5-year exclusions, aiming to help them stay informed about upcoming expiration and renewal dates.
The auto-renewal option complements existing 6-month, 1-year and 5-year exclusion periods.
Good to know: Current users with 5-year exclusions can upgrade to include the auto-renewal feature by turning it on within their account settings
Commenting on the development Gamstop CEO Fiona Palmer stated: “We have come a very long way since our launch in April 2018, but our journey doesn’t stop there.
“Our goal is to provide consumers with tools and options that empower them to take control of their gambling activity. As such, we’re consistently listening to feedback and evaluating the effectiveness of our service.
“Consumers wanted longer exclusion periods and we listened. The introduction of the 5-year auto-renewal exclusion is an important step in ensuring consumers peace of mind when using our service and helping vulnerable consumers take a sustained break from their gambling.”
