Both companies launched operations on 1 January 2025, as Brazil positions itself as a key player in the global gaming and sports betting industry.
Key points:
- Grupo Aposta Ganha and Betby will operate under Brazil’s new regulatory framework
- Aposta Ganha received licence registration number 0022 from Brazil’s Ministry of Finance
- Betby achieved Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) certification, authorising its sportsbook solutions for licensed operators
Operator Grupo Aposta Ganha and sportsbook supplier Betby have commenced operations in Brazil’s newly regulated sports betting and gaming market, which officially launched on 1 January 2025.
Both companies are among the first to meet the country’s new regulatory standards under the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance.
Grupo Aposta Ganha, operating in Brazil for six years, received registration number 0022 in Brazil’s Betting Management System (Sigap). The approval enables the platform to deliver its services in compliance with Brazil’s regulatory framework, which stresses responsible gaming and consumer protection.
Rene Santos, Grupo Aposta Ganha Co-CEO, commented: “Strict criteria laid out in the application will bring stronger consumer protection and market integrity. Our hard work has seen us join an exclusive tier of companies authorised to offer an entertaining and 100% secure gaming experience throughout the country."
Aposta Ganha has established its operations in São Paulo, where it aims to deliver localised gaming experiences.
Betby has also secured regulatory approval following its certification from Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) in December 2024. The certification confirms compliance with Brazil’s technical standards for information security, platform functionality and sportsbook operations.
Ilze Ramolina, Head of Legal at Betby, stated: “Brazil represents one of the most dynamic and high-potential markets globally. Securing GLI certification underscores our commitment to integrity, compliance and long-term success in this region.”
Good to know: Brazil’s regulated betting sector is expected to become one of the largest globally, fuelled by the nation’s passion for sports and its growing digital gaming audience
Betby’s sportsbook solutions are tailored for the Brazilian market, featuring localised designs to align with the country’s strong sports culture, particularly football.
Brazil’s market has already attracted operators such as Stake, which recently appointed Thomas Carvalhaes as its Brazil Country Manager after obtaining a federal licence.
Stake’s local team has prioritised compliance and market integration, similar to Aposta Ganha and Betby’s strategies.
