Pennsylvania is the only US state Betfred remains active in.
Key points:
- Betfred held a presence in 10 states in early 2023
- Nevada exit continues operator's recent depatures from the US
Betfred remains in just one state in the US after it was confirmed that it was leaving Nevada.
The exit from the Silver State means its operations in Pennsylvania is the only one available in the US, where it powers the Wind Creek Bethlehem sportsbook and also offers online sports betting.
It was this month in 2023 when Betfred gained its operating license to open a sportsbook in Nevada, which was located at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas through a partnership with Mohegan Sun and facilitated by SCCG Management.
Nevada became the 10th and to date last state in which Betfred held a presence in, also being active in some capacity in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and Washington.
However, recent months have seen the UK-based company exit the majority of these states, most recently confirming exits from Iowa and Washington in December.
According to the Betfred website: “Betfred Sportsbook has closed retail operations in the state of Nevada.
Good to know: Nevada's November gaming report came out this week, showing an overall decline of 4.21% year-on-year
“Should you have a winning wager or cash voucher that has not been redeemed, please visit the Mohegan Sportsbook at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas or follow the Mail in Redemption instructions found on the back of the betslip. A check will be mailed within 30 days of receiving any mailed in winning ticket or cash voucher.
“Any unsettled wagers placed at the Mohegan Sportsbook will be settled as the events occur. For all such winning wagers patrons should follow the above redemption instructions.”
It remains to be seen whether a complete US exit may be on the cards for Betfred, something seen in recent months with the likes of Super Group leaving the US sportsbook market and Betsson Group discontinuing its B2C operations in the US.
