缅甸国家消防局证实，台风“摩羯”带来的强降雨在首都内比都和周边地区引发大规模洪水，夺走了至少19人的性命，当地还有超过3600人流离失所，被救援人员用船运送到安全地区避灾。

台风“摩羯”是今年袭击亚洲的最强风暴，并已在越南和泰国造成逾230人死亡，多个城市爆发洪灾。

联合国支持的缅甸资讯管理单位（MIMU）的卫星影像显示，内比都周围约162平方公里的土地在12日已被洪水淹没，第二大城曼德勒周围更有约366平方公里的区域也全数沦为水乡泽国。

消防当局在12日晚间指出，救援队已救出来自30个不同地区的3602名受灾居民，并将他们转移至安全地区，目前这场洪灾已造成19人死亡。从消防当局发布的现场照片可见，受灾地区有不少建筑已被洪水没顶，不少妇童受困屋顶。

自2021年2月发生军事政变以来，缅甸就一直处于动荡不安的状态，全国各地暴力事件频传，该国5500万人口中也有约三分之一人需要人道主义援助。报导称，这场洪灾进一步加剧了这个饱受战争蹂躏的国家的困境，而洪水可能会使现有的经济危机雪上加霜。
