New York's mobile sports betting market remains robust – though down a little compared to last year – with handle figures for fiscal year 2024/2025 reaching $17.05bn through December 2024.

Key points:

- New York's mobile sports wagering handle reached $17.05bn in fiscal year 2024/2025

The New York State Gaming Commission has released its latest report detailing the performance of the mobile sports wagering sector for the fiscal year 2024/2025.

The data reveals a total handle of $17.05bn, generating $1.55bn in gross gaming revenue (GGR) – with $790.4m directed to education initiatives during this period.

The previous fiscal year 2023/2024 saw a total handle of $19.64bn, producing $1.76bn in GGR and contributing $898.5m to education.

This marked significant growth from fiscal year 2022/2023, which recorded a handle of $16.40bn and GGR of $1.46bn.

Recent monthly data indicates seasonal patterns in betting activity, with notable increases during the fall sports season.

December 2024 recorded a handle of $2.28bn, generating $150.4m in GGR. November 2024 proved particularly successful, with GGR reaching $231.6m from a $2.27bn handle.

The state's revenue sharing model continues to maintain a consistent structure, with approximately 51% of GGR allocated to platform providers and the remainder, minus adjustments and penalties, directed to educational programs.

These educational funds include specific allocations for problem gambling education and treatment ($6m) and youth sports activities ($5m).
